WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT US

Although 32% of Indians suffer from a thyroid disorder, awareness about the disease and its diagnosis remains shockingly low. Depression, infertility, high blood pressure, irregular cholesterol levels, and cardiovascular complications are the final results of abnormal thyroid hormone production from thyroid glands.

What exactly is thyroid? The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped organ that sits in front of the neck. The thyroid hormones triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxin (T4) are produced by thyroid glands and are created from iodine and tyrosine. The hormonal output from the thyroid is regulated by thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) secreted by the pituitary gland.

The thyroid may be affected by several diseases such as thyroid nodules, hyperthyroidism, goiter, thyroiditis, and thyroid cancer etc. Hyperthyroidism occurs when the gland produces excessive amounts of thyroid hormone. If a person is suffering from Hyperthyroid then he/she may experience symptoms such as weight changes, heart palpitations, and nervousness etc. It is considered that Hyperthyroid is more dangerous than hypothyroid.

Hypothyroid occurs due to insufficient thyroid hormones secreted by thyroid glands. The most common reason for Hypothyroid is iodine deficiency. Some of the common symptoms of hypothyroidism are weight gain, fatigue, dry skin, hair loss, and irregular menstrual cycle. If one encounters any of these symptoms it is better to get Thyroid tests done.

Pituitary gland release TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone), TSH then triggers the thyroid gland to make two hormones: triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxin (T4), both of which help to control your body's metabolism. In some patients have elevated TSH levels but have normal T3 and T4 level are said to have a mild or subclinical hypothyroidism. Usually, it is advised to get T3, T4, and TSH (Thyroid test packages) test done to know the exact problem. Normal thyroid blood test results for TSH range from 0.30-5.5 (μIU/ml), for T3 from 60-200 ((μg /dl), for T4 from 4.5-12.0 (μg/dl).
